Week 30 | On The Road.

We just got home.  Two weeks on the road, living out of suitcases.  It was by far the most beautiful and memorable trip of my life.  It was the first time my kids flew on a plane.  It was their first time seeing the Oregon coast.  It was their first time seeing a tree that was literally one hundred feet tall.  The magic and the mystery of exploration was captivating and quite honestly, hard to leave.  Yeah, I probably gained a few LB's from a steady diet of s'mores, fire-roasted hot dogs and craft beer, but I don't care.  I slept each night on an air mattress with a babe in each nook, their smokey, sandy hair in my face and the feeling of pure childhood magic filling our $60 Walmart tent.  We hiked, swam, surfed, explored, picked, cooked....the list goes on.  And the icing on the oh-so-amazing cake was that I actually found my childhood home.  I didn't have the address, but we drove through the town and I actually found the home I spent my happiest childhood years in.  We took some pictures, and as we drove away, tears rolling down my cheeks and a smile on my face, my daughter asked if this was my happy place.  And I said "Yes, but I have two happy places.  And my favorite is wherever you are."

The road, my friends.  Not always easy to travel, but always worth it.  I highly suggest you guys do it, and soon.
